Blades in this collection run from 6 to 13 inches, with most models between 7 and 9 inches. Overall length, tip to butt, runs from 11 up to 18 inches on the longest patterns. A 10 to 12 inch blade is a common working size for a Bowie carried on a belt. See the Damascus hunting knives for a shorter fixed blade, or our carbon and satin steel knives for a Bowie at a lower price.
Real pattern-welded Damascus shows its layers on both faces and on the spine, because the pattern runs through the steel; the etch brings it out. A fake prints or etches a pattern onto one plain steel, so the spine shows none. Read Real vs Fake Damascus for what to check before you buy, and browse the stag handle knives for a classic Bowie grip.
