Covered for as long as you own it

  • Forge welds. A Damascus weld that opens, lifts or delaminates.
  • Blade integrity. A blade that cracks, snaps or bends in normal cutting, or a heat treatment that fails, so the edge will not hold after sharpening.
  • Handle fit. Scales, pins, bolster or guard that loosen, gap or shift.

Covered for a set term

  • Leather, 1 year from delivery. Stitching that comes apart, a rivet that pulls out, a snap or strap that fails. After a year, leather wears with use, and that is normal.
  • Natural handles, 2 years from delivery. Stag, horn, bone and wood that is not stabilized can crack or shrink as they dry. We cover that for 2 years. A loose handle stays covered for life.
  • Commercial use, 2 years from delivery. A knife used every day in a restaurant, butchery or other business is covered for 2 years.

These terms run from the date your order was delivered. A part we repair or replace is covered for the rest of its term, or for 90 days, whichever is longer.

What is not covered

  • Normal wear. A dull edge, patina and darkening of carbon steel, scratches, and scuffs on handles and leather.
  • Handmade variation. Every knife is forged by hand. The Damascus pattern, the wood grain, the color and the weight differ from knife to knife and from the pictures, which are digital renders, within our spec standard.
  • Rust and neglect. Rust from storing the knife wet, in its sheath, or without oil.
  • Use other than cutting. Prying, twisting, throwing, digging, hammering on the spine, or splitting anything harder than wood. A kitchen knife used on bone, frozen food, or a board of glass or stone.
  • Heat and water. Dishwashers, soaking, and heat from a flame, a stove or a hot pan.
  • Damage from sharpening or changes. Damage caused by sharpening on a powered grinder or wheel, by grinding the blade to a new shape, by modification, or by a repair someone else made. Sharpening by hand on a stone or rod is expected and never affects your warranty.
  • Loss, theft and accidents. A knife dropped on a hard floor, run over, or lost.
  • Knives bought elsewhere. A Crownridge knife bought from anyone other than crownridgeknives.com, including resellers and marketplaces.

Normal use, knife by knife

  • Hunting, skinning and gut hook knives: field dressing, skinning and camp food.
  • Bowie, camp and bushcraft knives, kukris: carving, feathering sticks and chopping wood. Splitting small wood by striking the spine with another piece of wood is fine; striking it with metal is not.
  • Hatchets: chopping, limbing and splitting wood.
  • Kitchen knives and cleavers: food, on a wood or plastic board. Bone and frozen food are outside normal use.
  • Folding knives: everyday cutting. Never pry with the blade or force the lock.

Who is covered

  • The person who bought the knife from crownridgeknives.com, and the person they gave it to.
  • Your order number, or the email the order was placed with, is all the proof we need. There is nothing to register.
  • The warranty does not pass to someone who buys the knife second-hand.
  • We ship within the United States, so claims are handled for US addresses.

How to make a claim

  1. Email support@crownridgeknives.com with your order number and a few words on what happened.
  2. Attach three or four clear photos: the whole knife from each side, a close-up of the problem, and the knife in its sheath. For a loose handle, a short video of the movement helps.
  3. We reply within one business day, and decide within five business days of receiving your photos.
  4. If we need to see the knife, we email a prepaid label. Sheath the knife, pack it in a padded box, and drop it with the carrier on the label. Please do not send a knife without contacting us first.

How we put it right

  1. Repair. If the knife can be repaired, we repair it and send it back at our cost.
  2. Replace. If it cannot be repaired, we replace it with the same model, or with one of equal or higher price if that model is no longer made.
  3. Refund. If neither is possible, we refund what you paid for the knife.
  • When we replace a knife, the original comes back to us on our prepaid label. The replacement ships as soon as the carrier scans your parcel.
  • A replacement's Damascus pattern will differ from the original's, because every forging does.
  • An engraved knife is replaced with the same engraving, free.
  • The repaired or replacement knife carries the same warranty as the one it replaces.

The first 30 days

A defect found within 30 days of delivery is handled under our refund policy: your choice of a replacement or a full refund, with the shipping refunded too.

If we cannot cover it

  • We explain why in writing, with the photos that show it.
  • You can ask for a second review. The other owner of the company looks at the claim again and answers within five business days.
  • If the damage is not covered, we offer to repair it at cost, or a replacement knife at 30% off. If you sent the knife to us, we send it back free.

Keeping it fair

This warranty is generous because most people use their knives the way they are meant to be used. These terms keep it that way for everyone.

  • We may ask to see the knife before we decide, always on our prepaid label.
  • Claims must be honest. A claim made with photos of a different knife, or for damage caused on purpose, is refused, and the warranty on that order ends.
  • One route at a time. If a card dispute or chargeback is opened for the same problem, the claim waits until the dispute is settled.
  • Stay in touch. If we ask a question and hear nothing for 30 days, the claim closes. Reply at any time to reopen it.
  • A replaced knife stays with us. We do not send back a knife we have replaced or refunded.

Care keeps it simple

Most problems never start if the knife is kept dry and oiled. Wipe it dry after use, give carbon steel a thin coat of oil, store it out of its sheath, and sharpen it by hand. Our care guide walks through each step.

Your rights

This is a limited warranty. It gives you specific rights, and it adds to your rights under the law where you live; nothing in it takes them away.
