Engraved Knives for Groomsmen: A Gift Guide
How to pick, engrave and order knives for a wedding party, with an honest look at the price against the usual $25 to $80 gift and the old superstition.

Yes, engraved groomsmen knives make good gifts if the knife is useful, the engraving is personal and the type suits each man. Ours start at $99, more than the $25 to $80 Google showed for typical groomsmen gifts on September 30, 2026, and engraving is $19 a surface. Four or more knives take 15% off.
Pocket Knife or Fixed Blade: Which Suits Which Groomsman?
Match the knife to how each man lives. A pocket knife is the safe choice for a wedding party, since every man can carry one daily. A fixed blade suits the ones who hunt, fish or camp. If the party is mixed, give everyone the same pocket knife so the gift feels matched.
| Kind of groomsman | Knife that suits him | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Carries something every day, works in an office or on a site | Folding pocket knife, 2 to 4 inch blade, leather belt slip | $99 to $139 |
| Hunts, camps or fishes | Fixed-blade knife with a leather sheath | From $99 |
| Party of mixed tastes | The same pocket knife for all, engraved with initials | $99 to $139 |
Our pocket knives have blades from 2 to 4 inches and come with a leather belt slip. The Creek 8 inch Damascus Pocket Knife with a burl handle has a 3.5 inch blade and costs $119. The Creek 5 inch Damascus Pocket Knife is the smallest at $99, with a 2 inch blade and a bone handle. See all of them in Damascus folding knives.

For the outdoorsman, the Damascus hunting knives start at $99. The Timber 9.75 inch Damascus Camp Knife has a 5 inch blade, a rosewood handle and a full tang for $119. The gifts for hunters collection gathers the rest.

What to Engrave on a Groomsman Knife and Where
Keep it short. Initials, a name, the wedding date or a single line work best, and one color is all we cut. Engraving is cut by machine, as text or a plain logo, so keep a logo simple and skip detailed drawings. You can engrave the blade, the sheath or the handle, wherever the product page offers it, and you choose it on that page.
A blade engraving is seen when the man opens the knife, and a sheath engraving shows on the belt, so pick the surface that fits how he will use it. Give every man the same layout and the party looks matched. The engraved knives collection shows what is offered.
How Much Should You Spend on a Groomsman Gift?
Google showed a typical range of $25 to $80 on September 30, 2026. A Crownridge knife costs more than that: $99 for the least expensive, and $139 for the priciest pocket knife. That is a real gap and you should decide if the knife is worth it. A well-kept knife lasts for decades and gets used, which a flask or a pair of cufflinks may not.
The multi-buy discount narrows the gap. Automatic discounts on knives take 5% off two, 10% off three and 15% off four or more, and they do not apply to engraving. Take four $99 pocket knives: $396 becomes $336.60 with the discount, which is $84.15 each. Add $19 of engraving on one surface for each, $76 in all, and the total is $412.60, about $103 a knife. With the $139 pocket knife the four cost $472.60 before engraving, or $118.15 each.
If that is too much, choose a cheaper gift for the whole party instead. Matching gifts look better than a mix of knives and something smaller.
Ordering for a Wedding Party: Matching Knives, Timing and Returns
Order the party's knives in one cart, so the multi-buy discount applies and you can check every engraving line in one place. Gift wrap is $10 in the cart, with a message, and shipping is free within the US. Every knife includes its leather at no charge and carries our Limited Lifetime Warranty.
Engraved knives are made to order. The product page shows the dispatch time for the choice you make, and delivery takes 5 to 8 business days after dispatch. Count back from the date you need them. We do not give delivery dates.
Engraved knives are final. An engraved knife cannot be returned unless it arrives defective or not as ordered, so check every name and date twice before paying. A knife without engraving can be returned within 30 days of delivery. If a groomsman may not want a knife, leave the engraving off until you are sure. Pocket knives need the usual care, so add a line about wiping the blade dry and oiling it, and see our care guide.
The Old Knife Superstition, and the Coin That Answers It
An old saying holds that giving a knife cuts the friendship. The fix is simple: the man who receives the knife hands back a coin, which makes it a purchase and not a gift. Treat it as folklore. It is a nice moment to build in, though. Put a coin in the box with the knife, or ask each groomsman to hand one to the groom at the rehearsal dinner. Some parties make a moment of it; others skip it.
Who pays for the gifts is another common question. The groom traditionally buys them, and the wedding party does not pay. If you want to see how the steel is made before you buy, read what Damascus steel is.
